The John Deere 6R 250 sits at the top of the 6R Series mid-frame range, packing high-horsepower output into a comparatively compact six-cylinder chassis built around John Deere's 6.8 L (415 cu in.) inline-six diesel with high-pressure common-rail injection and two-stage turbocharging. It is rated at 250 hp and peaks around 275 hp, with Intelligent Power Management (IPM) adding up to a further ~40 hp for transport and PTO work. Drivetrain choices span the AutoPowr/IVT continuously variable transmission, AutoQuad and the dual-clutch DirectDrive, with top speeds of 40 or 50 km/h in EU markets (electronically limited to ~40 km/h / 25 mph in North America). A closed-centre, load-sensing hydraulic system delivers about 160 L/min and a rear hitch lift capacity of roughly 7,000 kg (Category 3/3N), while the cab offers the CommandPRO joystick, G5 CommandCenter display, JDLink connectivity and AutoTrac guidance. It was independently tested as Nebraska OECD Tractor Test No. 1241 (2024), making it a versatile machine for heavy tillage, transport, loader and high-speed field work.
