The John Deere GP Wide Tread (GPWT) was tricycle-front version of the model GP tractor, with a wide rear axle. There were 203 model GPWT tractors converted to a narrower, 68-inch, rear tread for use in potato fields of the US Northeast. The last 443 GPWT tractors were built with "overhead steering", with a shaft running over the top of the hood in a style similar to the later Model A tractor.
